Banks Stabilisation ''On Site'' Workshop
In May the Lower Blackwood LCDC held a on-site ‘Waterways Bank Stabilisation” workshop in Karridale on Mr. John's property. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for landholders to learn techniques in stabilising the banks of the creek lines and drains on their properties.
Presenter Alex Johnston from Tranen Revegetation Southwest guided enthusiastic attendees from all different sectors and backgrounds through the importance of site preparation in river and creek restoration work and will provide low-cost, practical and feasible techniques to manage erosion of waterways and drains on their property. Improving the site condition helps to increase the survival and growth rates of revegetation site seedlings.
Handouts on practical solutions were provided and are available here.
The ‘Waterways Bank Stabilisation’ workshop was part of the Lower Blackwood LCDCs ‘Biodiversity Linkages’ project and is supported by the South West Catchments Council, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme.
