SUMMARY:Optimising Plant Nutrition for Growers
DESCRIPTION:\nEffective and Efficient Strategies for Lowering Inputs and Improving Production\n\n\n\nEnsuring that the plants we grow get the nutrition they need is important for the robust growth, pest and disease resistance, and yield outcomes we want from our enterprise programs. Current agricultural trends however are seeing a a decline in soil health, this is accompanied by a greater reliance on finite and increasingly costly fertilisers, and inceasing environmental issues that are associated with such practices.\n\n\n\nMore than ever, there is both an economic and ecological imperative for management practices that look after our soil so that we get better nutrient retention, delivery and cycling, and well informed, targeted fertiliser applications, to achieve desirable plant performance outcomes with minimal waste. \n\n\n\nIn this one-day workshop with Mark Tupman of Productive Ecology, we will cover the underlying principles and fundamentals of how to:\n\n\n\n\nBuild Fertile and Functional Soils \n\n\n\nDetermine the Nutritional Status of Soils and Plants \n\n\n\nHow to Best Apply Nutrients to the Soil and Plants\n\n\n\nDevelop Sound Nutritional Programs for our Crops/Pastures\n\n\n\n\nThe day will also include a practical session making and applying nutritional amendments.\n\n\n\nEvent Logistics:\n\n\n\nWhen? Thursday February 8th 2024, 8.45am to 3.30pm\n\n\n\nWhere?  Lower Blackwood LCDC Office, 403 Kudardup Road, Kudardup WA 6290\n\n\n\nCost? This event is sponsored by Soil Wise and is complementary for attendees.\n\n\n\nWhat else? Morning Tea & Lunch provided. BYO refillable water bottle, wear appropriate farm footwear, and dress for the weather.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is supported by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River Environmental Management Fund and Soil Wise. Soil Wise is funded by the National Landcare Program Smart Farms Small Grants – an Australian Government initiative. It is supported by Healthy Estuaries WA – a State Government program.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
