DESCRIPTION:\nDesigning a productive farm today means thinking about the whole landscape – not just individual paddocks.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lower Blackwood LCDC’s 3-day Whole Farm Planning Course is back this year, offering local farmers the chance to step back, look at their property differently and develop practical plans for building healthier, more resilient and productive farms.\n\n\n\nPresented by David Hardwick from Soil Land Food, this innovative course will show you how to design and plan a healthy, resilient and productive rural landscape for your farm business. At the end of this 3-day course you will have the confidence to identify issues make decisions and take action to start improving landscape health and enterprise productivity on your property. You will develop a well thought out and whole of farm plan. The course is limited to a maximum of 15 farm enterprises to allow for personalised attention to the participants from the course trainer and will be hands-on and group based, combining theory with lots of practical activities.\n\n\n\nYou will learn:\n\n\n\n\nhow to “see” your landscape using landscape thinking\n\n\n\nabout Landscape Patches: the pieces of your farm’s landscape jigsaw\n\n\n\nthe water and nutrient cycles in rural landscapes\n\n\n\nhow energy flows and biodiversity functions in rural landscapes\n\n\n\nclimate, landforms & soil types on your property\n\n\n\nabout the landscape and agricultural elements of rural planning\n\n\n\nthe different approaches to property planning\n\n\n\nthe 10 steps to effective property planning\n\n\n\n\nYou will also:\n\n\n\n\nuse maps for property planning\n\n\n\nset goals for your farm’s rural landscape & enterprises\n\n\n\nassess your farm’s rural landscape\n\n\n\nidentify & prioritise issues\n\n\n\nbrainstorm strategies for improvement\n\n\n\ndevelop a Farm Plan for a sustainable future\n\n\n\n\nWill this Workshop Benefit Me?\n\n\n\nThis workshop is for farmers who want to future-proof their farms.
