I collected it from a roadside in Albany in March and April. Havent seen any of it germinate however. Hopefully it will when the time is right. Christine Jones mentioned it germinates on bare soil in Spring. I dont have any bare soil in Spring though!

Hi Louis, I hear you have some success with using livestock to sow seeds. keen to hear about that. Did you use sheep or cattle and what time of the year? I have a small vineyard in Albany and keen to dry seed in late summer when there is a bit of bale soil around and get the sheep in after we pick which is March. We usually have…

G’day Louis, Kate Tarrant mentioned you have had some luck with using stock to trample in seed rather than cultivate. I was thinking of dry seeding some vineyard inter rows in February when there are a few bare spots. Cant get the sheep in until mid March after the fruit is picked.

Thanks Kate, I will follow up with him. Was just chatting to a broadacre farmer who dry seeds in late summer when there are a few bare patches here and there. Mid April is usually too late here as we usually have germination by then and there isn’t too much bare ground. So, l think I’ll bring the dry seeding forward to February. Looking forward to them both being actively feeding microbes during summer also. the cover crop (Goodies Farm mix plus linseed, chicory, plantain and primrose) were sown mid April.
