Native vegetation along waterways particularly in agricultural catchments play and important role in nutrient stripping as well as creating important habitat and corridors for native fauna.

Weed control along waterways is considered vital to protect the environmental values of creeklines and reduce the spread of weeds. Weed control will focus on wet area weeds such as blackberry, arum lily and weedy wattle species.

Landholders along the in the catchment will be eligible for a 50% funding incentive for weed control works along the riparian zone and associated bushland, with the LCDC coordinating the weed control works.
