Stock Smart – Livestock Essentials for Small Properties
Whether you’re just starting out with livestock or looking to build confidence in your management skills, this hands-on workshop is the perfect place to begin.
Presented by Bruce Maynard, 4th generation farmer, agricultural innovator, and Bob Hawke Landcare Award recipient, we’ll cover the essentials of livestock care and give you the practical knowledge you need to make better decisions on your property. Topics include:
- Livestock nutrition & how the rumen works – understand what’s really going on inside your animals and how to keep them healthy and productive.
- Pasture & grazing management – explore how to match animal needs with pasture growth, avoid overgrazing, and get the most out of your land.
- Stock handling skills – learn low-stress, effective techniques to move and manage animals safely.
Will this workshop benefit me? This workshop is designed for small-scale and new farmers who want clear, practical guidance without the jargon. You’ll leave with a solid foundation in livestock management and the confidence to put these skills into practice.
