Environmental Weeds: A Community Action Workshop

Join us for a hands-on workshop focused on controlling environmental weeds in the Lower Blackwood catchment. As part of our Environmental Weed Control Support project, this event brings together landholders, naturalists, local government and Indigenous groups to learn, collaborate and act.

What you’ll learn:

  • Identify priority environmental weeds threatening bushland and riparian zones (such as Apple of Sodom, Bleeding Heart Tree, weedy wattles, Blackberry, Arum Lily)
  • Practical techniques and strategies for safe, effective weed control
  • How to plan for follow-up treatment and maintain long-term control
  • Funding, support and contractor engagement opportunities through the Lower Blackwood program

These environmental weeds are gradually encroaching upon our natural remnants, outcompeting native plants, and altering habitat structure. Without coordinated, continued effort, their spread will escalate costs and degrade biodiversity. This workshop is one step toward effective catchment-scale control.

We’ll also go through how to use the “Citizen Science Weed Mapping” App from NatureConservation
