Hardy Inlet Community Update

A community forum to celebrate the Hardy Inlet

Water quality and seagrass monitoring in the Hardy Inlet, and assessments of river health in the Blackwood and Scott rivers will be among the topics at an upcoming free community event in Augusta.

The Lower Blackwood LCDC and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) are hosting the annual Hardy Inlet Estuary Forum, a community event to showcase the on-ground work and research underway to improve the health of the local waterways.

The event, part of the State Government’s Healthy Estuaries WA program is open to everyone in the Lower Blackwood Catchment and beyond.

Jo Wren, Executive Officer of the LCDC believes that the event is a vital forum to update the community on the proactive work and the challenges of managing estuary health.

“Our community tell us that they highly value our waterways for the beautiful scenery, wildlife and recreation opportunities. Our work through Healthy Estuaries WA focuses on practical, on-ground outcomes to improve the health of our unique Hardy Inlet, and we encourage anyone who loves the inlet and rivers to come along and learn more,” she explains.

“It’s always a great opportunity to hear from the experts who are studying our rivers and estuaries, and they will be sharing new research completed within the last year,”
