Integrated Nutrient Management Workshop

Healthy soils are the foundation of productive and resilient farming systems. Understanding how nutrients move through your soil, plants and livestock can help you make better management decisions that improve profitability while protecting the environment.

Join experienced soil educator David Hardwick for a practical, hands-on workshop exploring integrated nutrient management and the vital role soil biology plays in nutrient cycling.

Whether you’re looking to improve fertiliser efficiency, better understand your soil test results or build healthier, more resilient pastures, this workshop will provide practical tools you can apply on your own property.

What you’ll learn:

  • Understanding nutrients and how they cycle – with a focus on N, K and S
  • Why soil biology and healthy plants are essential for effective nutrient management
  • The Nutrient Cycling Capacity of your soil
  • The 5 Nutrient Buckets Model for thinking about and managing soil nutrients
  • Using soil tests, tissue tests and visual diagnosis for assessing nutrients
  • Integrated Nutrient management: the steps to success
  • Options for managing nutrients – nitrogen, potassium and sulphur

This workshop is ideal anyone interested in improving soil health, nutrient efficiency and farm resilience. Whether you’re just beginning your soil health journey or looking to deepen your understanding, you’ll leave with practical knowledge you can immediately apply on your farm.

When? Tuesday 7 July 9:15am – 3pm (morning tea, a grazing board and lunch are included)

Cost? FREE – limited places available please RSVP as soon as possible

What Else? To get the most from the workshop, please bring:

  • A recent soil test from your property (if available)
  • An intact cube of topsoil (approximately 20 cm × 20 cm) for the practical session

    Agroecologist, Founder & Owner, Soil Land Food

    WHO IS DAVID HARDWICK?

    David Hardwick, is an agroecologist & partner in the rural change management company Soil Land Food. David has over 20 years experience in rural landscapes, farming and food systems. He develops and delivers many of the extension projects for Soil Land Food across Australia. He worked in community development and then horticulture before completing a dairy traineeship on an organic dairy in NSW.

    Since then he has had a wide ranging career working in both management and technical roles. These include Landcare extension, agronomy, soils, agribusiness, biofertiliser R&D and manufacturing, organics, training, and consulting positions. For many years he also helped run a regional farmers market business with his wife. He has also worked on rural cooperative and social enterprise projects. David also teaches soils, regenerative agriculture, farm planning and agroecology at TAFE NSW on a casual basis. David’s passion is agroecology and empowering farmers with knowledge and skills that make a difference!

    David’s qualifications include:

    Bachelor of Ecological Agriculture (University of Sydney)
    Diploma in Agribusiness (TAFE NSW)
    CIV in Training & Assessment
    Grazing Land Management (Queensland DPI)
    Natural Sequence Farming – Tarwyn Park Training
