• Managed to get our 9.5ha of irrigation paddocks seeded this weekend using the Soilkee mulcher and seeder after coating the seed the day before. Also added in some guano to the seed mix to see if it helps putting it down the same seeding slot.

We have not killed the existing pasture but rather cut it down with the mulcher to allow it to regrow, plus will keep the sheep on it for the next 5 days. Competition during establishment is a key factor we are watching closely.

Will look to spray out a Johnson Su extract this weekend, then follow up with some of the BioFert and biostimulants in November.

Seed included – chicory, plantain, clovers, perennial rye grass, fescue, hybrid rye grass, peas, safflower, radish, buckwheat, linseed, pennisetum.

Let’s see what pops up and how it performs.

      • Great work Brett! What variety of Pennisetum is it.. haven’t heard of that in a mix before??

        • It is called Pearler Hybrid Pennisetum. There was a bag going cheap in Perth so I thought my not add it into the mix. Might be a bit cold for it but let’s see.
