Western Beef are running a Rumen8 Beef Workshop in Bunbury on Wednesday 8 May (9am-4pm). Rumen-8 Beef is a freely available computer program https://www.rumen8.com.au/ that assists with cost effective supplementation decisions.
A dairy version has been available for over 20 years with thousands of users around the globe. The Beef version has only recently been created (by the same WA based team) and with the Australian Government support through the Future Drought Fund, a training program has been developed for using the program to assist with hay and silage allocation for beef herds. User can also upload their own feed test results as well as current prices (feed, sale yard and abattoir) to support cost effective decisions. The workshop is designed for small groups. The program has the capability for designing rations as well, it has a pre-loaded library with hundreds of feeds, but the user can upload their own if they have feed test results. A very useful tool to explore feeding options under the current feed shortages situation.
