It’s Beetlemania!
Tiny. Mighty. Obsessed with poo. We think it’s time to celebrate those hard-working heroes of the soil, the dung beetles.
We’re going to be Talkin’ about these hard working critters are out there every day burying dung, improving soil structure, cycling nutrients and helping to keep pastures productive. Less mess on the surface, more goodness back in the ground.
At this short workshop, we’re taking a closer look at what’s really going on beneath your feet (and your herd). Because dung beetles aren’t just a nice to have, they’re a powerful natural tool for healthier soils and more efficient farming systems.
Our Project Officer, Jourdyn, will share all you need to know about our local species, signs of activity and how to monitor populations on your own property.
Whether you’re already seeing beetles at work or just starting to notice what’s happening in your paddocks, this is a chance to understand how to make them work harder for you.
We’ll cover:
- What dung beetles are
- The role they play in the ecosystem
- Benefits for soil health, nutrient cycling and pasture productivity
- Signs of activity
- How dung beetles work and different behaviours
- How to monitor populations and what to look for
Why should I go?
This is the perfect way to find out more about the role these precious beetles play in our ecosystem, how to protect them and how to integrate more beetle-friendly management into your management processes. It will be short, fun, free and we even provide dinner!
