| Your Story | I grew up on a small 28 Acre property in the hills that straddles a valley, just 30 minutes out of Perth. We had a few cows, beautiful pasture (in my memory anyhow), peaches, plums, nectarines and apples – it was a great place to grow up. Coming into high school, uni and then living abroad for 10+ years, I took the property for granted and paid it little to no attention. However I have recently returned to Perth and felt a real draw to get involved in the property, only to find that few plum trees remained and nothing else, fields completely dominated by weeds, barren slopes and issues of compacted soils and water runoff. The long term vision is to revegetate and revive the property regeneratively and one day run a small farm shop, market garden/orchard and run a place where kids, schoolchildren or even interested adults might be able to visit to learn about farming and regenerative practices (it’s idealistic but I need a goal!). Taking it back to the now, my immediate goals are to revive the pasture and save the remaining trees and while I’m excited and can’t wait to get stuck in I have no idea what I’m doing! |
