Farming in a Closed Loop System with Anthony Quinlan – Webinar Recording

Closed loop agriculture is a farming practice that recycles all nutrients and organic matter material back to the soil that it grew in. This forms part of an agricultural practice that preserves the nutrient and carbon levels within the soil and enables farmers to reduce or eliminate external inputs.

Under the Australian Certified Organic standards a closed system is defined as:

“ The aim through time is to limit external inputs into the farming system, most particularly fertilisers and manures, such that the farming system becomes a “closed” and self sustaining ecological system, whilst ensuring sustainability and nutrient maintenance of the overall farming system”. ACO Standard v1 2019.

This Talkin’ After Hours webinar, recorded in 2020, explores the question of whether or not a farm really works successfully with a closed organic system. Presenter Anthony Quinlan, Founder of Soil Dynamics, will share his view on the issues, challenges & rewards of developing a closed loop farm system and discuss how to go about it & if it might work for you.
