Current multispecies Mix progress

Thought I would share some progress photos of our multispecies mix that was seeded at the start of May after being sprayed out.

This year we have decided to not graze the 35ha area (half the farm) so we can grow some deep roots and then let it go to seed to start a new seed bank in the soil.

We had to dig a 1m test pit today for a different reason but noticed roots down 0.5m, and we still have spring growth to come.

We have some great areas of growth on the higher ground, but the water logged areas only have grass that has survived, and then in between areas have some species feeling a bit off colour. Need some dry sunny weather ☔️☀️

I also have some comparison areas of grass only growth that didn’t get sprayed to show the difference between the two pastures – note the fox bait tub.

Looking forward to seeing what happens during the September and October growth period noting we already have some peas, radish and mustard flowering already

Awesome Brett, what was in your mix, any perennials as well?

Have a very similar experience with our wet & in between areas.
