Soil Health – What is it and how do we get there?

We had a fantastic turnout for our Soil Health – What Is It and How Do We Get There? workshop, with plenty of great discussion and practical thinking throughout the day.

Led by Kevin Elmy, the session dug into what soil health really means on the ground, not just in theory, but in day-to-day farm management. From understanding soil biology and structure, to practical tools like cover cropping, livestock integration and smarter fertiliser use, the focus was on achievable steps landholders can take to build healthier, more resilient soils.

In this post, you can find the power point slides and all the resources we used throughout the day, as well as some bonus resources provided by Kevin.

Thanks to everyone who came along and contributed to the conversation. It’s encouraging to see so many local landholders committed to strengthening their soils for the future.

Kevin mentioned the solvita test kit for home testing, follow the link to find out more: Solvita Soil Respiration Test – AgSight
